About Us
Making BC a Better Place For future muslims
Our Story
A good Muslim in Canada is an asset to his or her community but also an asset to Canada. Furthermore, we believe that Muslims need to find strength, as is the case with other Canadians, within their own communities in order to become stronger Canadians.
That is why we strive to introduce to the Muslim community live talks, activities, and services to bring Muslims together, hence strengthening a sense of belonging to one Muslim identity.
Almasjid Islamic Foundation inc. complements a masjid on the ground in two ways:
1. While Muslims wait for a miracle every 20 years or so when someone would get 5 million dollars to build a masjid, we decided to act TODAY. Remember our beloved prophet (pbuh)? he didn’t wait until he had enough money to build a fancy masjid; he started building his masjid same day he arrived to Medina; a masjid made of straw for a ceiling and dirt for a floor was way better than a decorated masjid he would build in 5 years!
2. Furthermore, keep in mind that historically a masjid is not only a place for prayers but of worship in the universal meaning of the word as commanded by Allah and his messenger (pbuh). So this Almasjid would act as a hub, as any masjid ought to be, encouraging Muslims to join hands through charitable activities.
However, a masjid has also been an inviting place for non-Muslims as well. Our society wants to share this vision where Muslims and non-Muslims find their spiritual, educational, social, and even financial needs fulfilled, while maintaining family values that Canadian Muslims cherish.
Our main goal is to facilitate a stronger Muslim community, paving the way to a stronger Muslim individual, which ultimately makes for a better Canadian citizen.
